Upgrade PS3 hard drive

I finally decided it was time to upgrade my PS3 hard drive from the original 60gb. With new DLC coming out all the time it’s hard not to fill up a drive pretty quickly. Of course, now that I know how painless it is to change the drive…I should have done it a lot sooner.

I found a 320gb drive on Newegg.com that was a good deal, plus free shipping (which is my #1 selling point). A quick google search returned lots of how-to articles, and even a nice YouTube video.

The process really is as simple as it looks. The whole thing took about 3 hours, but most of that was spent backing up and restoring the data. I used the new Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive that I got Allison for Christmas to backup the data. All I had to do was format the drive as FAT32 and the PS3 did the rest. Sweet!
